hpstwin
Hey all, I'm wondering what the best practices are for an AutoCAD 2018 user making 2D and 3D files of a theater space that will be used by lighting, sound, and scenic designers. I'm mostly curious how best to draft the grid positions so that they will translate nicely to vwx. format and Lightwright functionality. I'm already working towards creating plan, section, and elevation views of the different parts of the space, independently of the full 3D model of the space and all the hanging positions, I just want to make sure that 3D extrusions of the pipes are a useful thing for my designers, or if circles and rectangles can be assigned easily for the Lightwright usage Thanks so much Quote Link to comment
Kevin Allen
I'm not sure this possible. Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
Probably best to send a few dwg test files to the vwx user and review together to optimize a process. Probably will need some screen share. post back how you get it working as tips for others. -B Quote Link to comment
Kevin McAllister
Most of the challenge will be file organization, since the Vectorworks users will have access to both layers and classes and you will only have access to Autocad layers (which normally convert to Vectorworks classes). In my experience geometry transfers pretty well. I would stick to solids geometry where possible. Kevin Quote Link to comment
