Piotr Karczewski
Hi I'm new here! It was nice to read your discussion 😉 I'm wondering if you could help me with my choice for Vectorworks 2020 mobile station. I don't want to spend a fortune but about $1,2-1,5k. herbieherb
More info please 🙂 Which programs do you use? What kind of plans do you draw? 2D/3D? Do you render? OpenGL or Renderworks or Hiddenline? And if so, how much time do you spend rendering? How much of your working time do you generally spend with Vectorworks? Do you use it for work or study? If you are working on a typical plan, what is your current maximum RAM and VRAM usage? Quote Link to comment

Thanks @herbieherb, I'm a garden and landscape designer and gardening co. owner. I do use VW for Garden design and Landscape Architecture, rendering is not my no. 1 today, but will be in the near future. Unfortunately it's a quite small company, with low IT budget, so I decided to spent equivalence of $1-1,2k for a mobile station, so with this budget I'm looking for a refurbished station or new with future upgrade possibilities. As for now I do prefer option 3 Refurbished: Dell Precision m6800 i7-4810MQ  (4x3,8GHz) 32GB DDR3L 17,3" FHD (1920x1080) NVIDIA Quadro K5100M 8GB GDDR5 SSD - 256GB 2,5" SATA  which gives a lot of power from the very beginning compering to it's opponents (1,3,4) it has got other advantages for me, such us a place for 2 SATA III drives - I do have 2 quite new SATA III Samsung EVO (512GB) & QVO (1TB) SSD drives in my current DELL. I'll be happy to read Your opinion. Quote Link to comment
herbieherb
This is a very well suited laptop except for its CPU rendering power. But since you can also render well via Vectorworks cloud services, it's not a big issue. Quote Link to comment
