Labeling windows and doors in plan

I'm fairly new to Vectorworks and am working on contract docs for a project.

 

Is there a procedure or technique for labeling windows and doors in plan? For example, putting lets or numbers inside shapes like ovals, rectangles, hexagons, etc.? Can these be keyed to a database?

There is a built in labelling ability with the door and window tool which also can be presented in schedules (worksheets) however I’m not qualified to explain that as here in New Zealand we have a different tool for widows and doors. (Windoor from Ozcad).

 

Hopefully someone can give you some guidance on that but just to note that as well as the built in labelling feature of doors and windows you can also use the data tag tool for labels. A data tag can be se up to read the door/window numbers and is fully customisable. There are possibly already data tags set up for both doors and windows if you look in the vw libraries.
