1 wall - 2 materials?

Recommended Posts

Are the walls offset from each other in plan view? if so you can just draw a second, lower wall around the outside of the building, being careful to leave gaps (with no wall) at doors/openings. You can also give these lower walls their own class thereby enabling them to be visible (or not), as you choose, for different views. On the other hand, if the walls are aligned in plan view, then, depending on the level of realism you require, there are a couple ways. The most realistic would be for one wall to sit on top of the other. In this scenario you will need to adjust all your doors/openings so that they exist in one of the sets of walls, and are adjusted for height so they overlap the other walls, in which you will need to place a bunch of "cased openings" so that the doors/windows will not be obscured. Any way you look at it it invloves work! Hope that helps...

If its a rendering you are after just create an offset surface from the desired wall face and then trim it to the desired height. Then apply the material and render. The offset surface tool will automatically pick up windows/doors etc so no need to do any awkward trimming etc.
