Lord A
Just wondering if anyone had a solution for dividing an ellipse into equal segments in VW. ? I know its easy in Autocad . Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
More detail about what you are trying to do please. Do you want: 1. Equal angles? 2. Equal areas? 3. Equal segment lengths? Quote Link to comment
Kaare Baekgaard
You can use duplicate along path to place copies of an object at equal distances along the ellipse. If the duplicated object is a short line segment, you can use the lines to trim the ellipse into equal sizes (lengths). Quote Link to comment

john large
correction: Hi, I'd like to draw an ellipse in equal segments. Kind regards, Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
Try suggestion from @Kaare Baekgaard Draw the ellipse (via Oval tool shown). Intersect with a short line segment. Engage Edit>Duplicate Along Path Prev/Next buttons to highlight the Oval as path Enter # of duplicates = # of segments desired Enable all 3 options: Center object, Tangent, Keep Original Orientation Preview. If OK, Click OK Use the Split tool to cut at the intersections, in Line Split mode with Split Selection option. (or Point Split mode) Post back if this misses the intent. -B 4 Quote Link to comment
Kevin McAllister
I think Duplicate Along Path is the best option you'll find. There may also be a Marionette command someone has made to do it too. Vectorworks has a variety of divide commands but none of them have continued to develop or evolve. Arc into Segments for arcs, Line into Segments for lines, Even Divide seems to work on arcs, lines and rectangles. This would make a great wish list item. Kevin 1 Quote Link to comment
