'Crop Object' geometry uncontrollably appears on Design Layer

When we click into a viewport to 'edit design layer'. Sometimes (but not all the time), the viewport geometry will be uncontrollably duplicated onto the design layer. 

 

The first video shows that when we have a rotated squared shape, no matter how we delete the Square, it keeps reappearing on the design layer. 

The second videos shows that with a new geometry, this issue continues to occur.

We use Vectorworks 2019 SP6.

If you right click on the Viewport and choose Edit (rather than Edit Design Layer), you get the following dialog box. Uncheck the Add Reference Crop Object and you will not get the green crop displaying on the design layer. Once you have the option set it will (should) keep that setting until you change it the next time.
