Editing New Story Level creates new Level

Yes, that is terrible.

If you want to change any of your "Default" Levels Heights afterwards,

you have to go through all your Stories and edit that Level to the new Value.

It will create a copy with same name.

(maybe it works by editing Default Level and you need just to switch

the checkbox from the old Level to the newer edited Level Name)

Finally after you edited all other Stories and the previous old Level isn't

anymore in use anywhere - it will finally disappear.

But I criticized that and much more already when Story Levels where released

in VW 2015 (?). And had lots proposals how to make it more useful and easier

to use.

Yeah - no reason for such a great feature to be soooooo clunky.  It confuses the heck out of people I try and teach it to.   This whole default verses new verses all the duplicated named levels and layers.  The functionality is basically OK - just somebody needs to spend 2 days to clean the UX up.

I am happy that you brought it up again and would really appreciate improvements.

Just that it was discussed in details at that time and nothing improved over the years,

it looks like someone decided that it is good enough. And not much hope from my side

that it would change over the next 2 decades .....

I think that is exactly right ant VWs biggest issue is the "good enough" mentality.  There is a "technically not a bug because it works as designed and to the general specification of the task as written" attitude to the UX.   I was playing around with styles and realized again - there are at least 2 maybe 3 completely different way that styles are implemented.  Different solutions to the same problem - clearly because these features were designed and implemented by different teams - and each was good enough.

Which would be fine if there was follow up and there was a red team that went back over and fixed these issues over the next few updates / releases - but it seems that once a feature is done - it is seldom revisited.

Hey guys I agree, and also experience an issue that I cannot understand.

We use our own custom levels (instead of the ones pre-set by Vectorworks in Stories).

But often, like ALL THE TIME, we get an error that says 'Level Type' 'Doesn't Exist' with our slab and wall objects.

This causes our Slabs and Walls to go in crazy heights, or have crazy heights.
