Jim Smith
I've not installed VW 2020 yet & may get around to it later this month. I am curious if the Dark mode is the only choice or may one keep the it light? Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
It appears that if you have Dark Mode set on your Mac that the VW Dark Mode theme will be automatically selected with no option on the windows and menus. Interactive Appearance Settings still control the Layer (Design, Sheet, Top/Plan) color. The help recommends setting them to something other than the default white if you are running in Dark mode. zoomer
Unfortunately the VW dark mode is linked to system bright/dark mode setting. So if you want old VW UI on Mac, you have to deactivate macOS dark mode in Mac Settings. Forgot the name and don't have the link anymore, but there was a (even free ?) Software for Mac, where you can explicitly set which App will use dark mode or not. Quote Link to comment
Jim Smith
I know it's a matter of taste, but I'd not choose a "Dark Mode" as I spent too many years in front of a black CRT with a glowing green drawing hammering out commands until I discovered MiniCad. Yes, I am THAT old. Quote Link to comment
zoomer
The bright mode made projects in VW looking very friendly and artistic. I have some 3D or CAD Apps that recently got a dark mode, which is more a WIP, as it is a complex effort. Also I think macOS dark mode is one of the wirst I ever seen. At least on non retina Displays. I much prefer these Gray or Dark Grey GUIs of 3D Apps like Modo or C4D. That still works for both, system bright or dark mode. Dark Mode never 100% works for me, at least when I deal with foreign content like surfing the web, using eMail, examining PDFs and such. Nevertheless I currently use dark mode everywhere for now. iOS, Mojave, Windows (better), Linux with KDE (great) 3 hours ago, Jim Smith said: I know it's a matter of taste, but I'd not choose a "Dark Mode" I can fully understand and it is totally ok. Yes, I am THAT old. Or AutoCAD on DOS :-), though AutoCAD 10 (not 2010) on Mac was way better to work with as its interface was somewhat similar to Vectorwork's light interface. To this day I prefer the black background in DWG CAD for 2D work. Bricscad has a nice background for 3D which is a dark grey to medium grey gradient background. A dark interface needs to be done really well or it is simply not pleasant to work with. There should always be an option to chose between a dark or a light interface, regardless of which one is default though I hope they'll keep the light as default. The best dark mode I have seen was when I tested ARES commander. I like Modo gray, C4D dark gray and especially Blender. Quote Link to comment
Tanner Shelton
Blender is my favorite dark mode app. It definitely found the balance between black and gray where it is pleasant on the eyes and makes it look very professional. 1 Quote Link to comment

Lets you set any app to run opposite of your main settings. There are other apps. Stopped trying them when this one worked 1 Quote Link to comment
