these are carefully work out symbols that will then be used for fabrication drawings...and BOM generation...

not going to do this with a general "piping" tool if one existed...there is always going to be a "one off" that will not allow you to get it done 100% with a specialized tool...

need to develop parametrics like they do in mechanical cad (solidworks/onshape) they have way to build off of previous geometry...

If you change geometry #1 the all the geometry after #1 rebuilds...

this method requires the designer to establish the order of things & what is important to him vs expecting the people at vw to develop a tool (ex stair) to meet every possible configuration in the universe...

also, need a way to make a VP of a symbols and not need to make a layer for each symbol to isolate for VP fab drawings.

and need to have symbols that you can subtract from so you have standard product (that you buy) but can cut and drill holes in it...

now just imagine an online vw 3d library where we post our symbol products...we keep ownership but others can ref in and cut or drill....

If i add in more refinements to my products then all who use them can get an option to update to latest...

no one can highjack my products and fiddle with them...only the owner...

but you can copy and break ref if you want...

this means that you could have someone be just a 3d stair person...they make 3d stairs and have a way to charge

this way you leave the stairs to an expert...

while you stay on track assembling the whole place...

the silver bullet for this is collaboration and not a single person trying to master a bazillion tools...

then VW can focus all energy on this collaborative environment and library

so this is where the collaboration kicks in...we may not have the work to hire someone 40hrs a week... but if someone wanted to be the stair person then they could set up shop for 3d stairs and do stairs for all of us...then they get streamlined and we get a quality product because of mass production...and do not need to hire someone full time...
