HARDLOCK.SYS

Recommended Posts

we upgraded our third office workstation to VW architect 11.5 from 10.5 last Thursday and have been unable to use the workstation (running XP pro SP2) since.

On startup we get the blue screen of death listing Hardlock.sys as the offending file which we believe from our web research is associated with the Aladdin dongle driver. Help has not yet been forthcoming from the reseller or the UK distributer and we're at the end of our patience.

Despite removing VW11.5 using uninstall we're still not able to start up the computer without getting a blue screen or starting it in safe mode.

Any help would be appreicated. Bloody dongles!

Please copy and paste this link into your internet browser to download the dongle driver: http://www.aladdin.com/support/hasp/hasp4/enduser.asp.

Make sure to install the Hinstall.zip file and unplug the dongle from your computer.

Instructions on how to install the dongle driver:

1. After you have downloaded the dongle driver from Aladdin?s website, unplug the dongle from your computer.

2. Unzip the Hinstall.zip file.

3. Make sure you extract the two following files to your desktop, hinstall.exe and haspds_windows.dll.

4. Go to the Start Menu and select Run.

5. Type "cmd" (without the quotation marks) into the Open field then click OK.

6. Click on the Browse button and browse to the hinstall.exe file.

7. Type in "cd {space} desktop" (without the quotation marks) and hit the Enter key. Next type in "hinstall -i" (without the quotation marks) and hit the Enter key. A small blue window will appear telling you that the dongle driver is installing. You should get a window that tells you that the operation has been completed successfully. Click the OK button.

8. Plug the dongle back into your computer then restart your machine. When you are booted back up and logged in launch VectorWorks and now it should be working without a problem.
