P Bartoli
I have problems snapping objects in 3d. looks like two objects' edges are coincident, but as soon as i rotate the axonometric view, I realize the edges aren't coincident, even if VW told me I snapped! Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
3D snapping has always been problematic. Pity it doesn't work like 3D snapping in SketchUP does - with certainty and intuitive hints. [ 07-13-2005, 08:19 AM: Message edited by: mike m oz ] Quote Link to comment
P Bartoli
thanks mike, but what advice can you give me? give up 3d on VW ? Quote Link to comment
P Bartoli
I do like Sketchup and Ashlar Vellum's Cobalt. These are 3d snaps that work... Quote Link to comment
islandmon
Due to veretex stacking, it's imperative to snap in orthogonic 30? view to get the correct vertex/edge/plane. VW is very sensiive to vertex 'over-load' and I think this is beneficial as it errors on the side of caution. The default Z snap =0 even if the X&Y are correct. Quote Link to comment

I'm new to vw in 3d and don't understand exactly what you mean by "orthogonic 30? view" and "The default Z snap =0 even if the X&Y are correct". Do you mean I'd work in View>Projection Oblique 30? or something like this? Quote Link to comment
P Bartoli
I must correct my post: the problem arises overall if I move 3d objects and try to snap on objects' edges. During the creation of objects snaps seems to work allright Quote Link to comment
Mat Caird
I think if you use the 3d selection tool instead of the 2d selection tool you won't have these problems. Quote Link to comment

mike m oz
I've always wondered what the need is for separate selection tools for 2D and 3D. Couldn't they be combined into one? Quote Link to comment
P Bartoli
Yes, I just realized I've used the 2d selection tool instead of the 3d selection. Now it's better, thanks. Quote Link to comment
quigley
Hi Poalo, Welcome to the world of 3D in VectorWorks....not quite like Cobalt is it :-) (for others I know Paolo from the Ashlar forum)... Kevin Quote Link to comment
