JackBuilt
What process or tool allows modifying a framing member while retaining the plug-in attributes. ie drawing a deck using 2x12s and cutting the member to be stair a carriage? Is this possible? 1 Quote Link to comment
BenV
I always wondered how people handle this - i.e. you want to use a "member" tool PIO, but also want to model in hole patterns, notches, etc... Would love to hear about people's workflows when they need to show that kind of LOD. Quote Link to comment
M5d
I haven't tested 2020 yet, I usually wait until SP3, but I questioned and wish-listed this last year. Hopefully, with this year being all about "data", it has been fixed! Quote Link to comment
JackBuilt
I installed 2020 before starting to model this deck. It remains true that once you make a solid subtraction to a framing member it is no longer a framing member PIO. I used extrudes for the stair carriages. On another note For the life of me I could not get the rails I wanted out of the rail tool (RDI vinyl rails). So I wound up fully modeling them. Quote Link to comment
M5d
That's a disappointment, I kinda thought 2020's new History-Based Modelling feature would have been built to address this. What's frustrating, is the PIO remains intact within the Subtraction, the data is there, worksheets just can't get to it. Edited October 28, 2019 by M5d 1 Quote Link to comment
