Tom Lightbody
I'm struggling to get 2D renderings to appear when using viewports, and can't work out what I'm doing wrong. I've edited an existing hybrid symbol to include 2D representations for each of Back, Front, Left, Right but no matter what I do I only ever seem to see only the 3D object in the viewport. I honestly have no idea what I'm missing so any help would be appreciated. Thanks. I've followed the workflow here: http://app-help.vectorworks.net/2019/eng/VW2019_Guide/Symbols/Workflow_Using_2D_Components_of_Symbols_and_Plug-in_Objects_in.htm#XREF_17531_Using_2D Quote Link to comment
Phil hunt
what version of vw are you using.....i think in one of the posts 2d will not render in a viewport unless its in wireframe unless you have 2019 and above but i may be wrong Quote Link to comment
drelARCH
I had similiar issue in vw 2019...disappering some 2d parts. It was cause 2d component was drawn in polyline instead of polygon...You might try that. Guess you have viewports set to ‘show 2d component’ in OIP. Quote Link to comment
Tom Lightbody
Thanks guys. I have 2019, so hopefully that’s not an issue. The 2D component is made up of polylines though... I’ll try making a polygon instead when I’m back at my computer. Quote Link to comment
drelARCH
To simplify process use select similiar tool to select all polylines at once and then ‘convert to polygon’ function. Thanks to @Matt Panzer for this helpful tip. Quote Link to comment
Tom Lightbody
No joy 🙁 The 2D elements are now all polygons, but the problem persists. I have both “Background Render” and “Foreground Render” set to “Hidden Line” in the OIP, and “Display 2D Components” selected. Quote Link to comment
Phil hunt
are the classes turned on for that particular viewport ..... Quote Link to comment
Phil hunt
sorry i meant are the classes for the 2d elements turned on for that particular viewport Quote Link to comment
Tom Lightbody
Update: this appears only to be an issue when using symbols with Light Info Records attached. I’ve tried removing the Light Info Records from the symbol and it works exactly as expected. Anyone got any idea what’s causing this or how to get round the issue? Thanks! Quote Link to comment

The checkbox was the issue. Thank you for the post! Quote Link to comment
