chey
Currently, I have a 9800XT in a G5 2.5. Should that be sufficient for VW and renderworks? Or should I look at getting the X800 XT? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Quote Link to comment
Jacques
chey, I would firstly ask what your other system specs are? Most importantly, how much ram do you have and what version of OS X are you running. Replacing your currnet card with an x800 XT will get you some improvement, but not as much say going from 512mb ram to 1.5gb. You're current card is drool worthy, make no mistake! Renderworks makes use of the CPU more than the GPU, with I think only OpenGL operation benefitting from a faster card. You can't try VW on a demo machine at an Apple store before you buy? -Jacques. chey
Thank you for the link. I think I will stay with 9800 xt for now, as the X800 XT seems more geared to avid gamers and higher end 3d modeling. Quote Link to comment
