3D Connexion settings migrate to VW 2020

Recommended Posts

a bit off-topic here, but maybe other VW users have the same problem: The 3D Connection software recognizes the new installation of VW 20 as a new program, there seems no way to migrate the settings from VW 2019. I had this problem already when changing from 2018 to 2019 and ended up in re-writing all macros. Maybe someone here knows if the is a better way to do this ?

Hello @halfcouple

1. Try find the configuration files in your 3DConnexion folder. Mine is located here -

C:\Program Files\3Dconnexion\3DxWare\3DxWinCore64\Cfg

2. Copy your existing VW2020 configuration file in the folder to somewhere safe, e.g. your desktop. My file is Vectorworks2020.xml

3. Find the configuration file you wish to copy from, in your example, it should be Vectorworks2019.xml.

4. Copy to your desktop as well, and open it using your favorite text editing program.

5. You should be able to find the signature section like below -

<Signature>
	<Name>Vectorworks 2019</Name>
	<ExecutableName>Vectorworks2019.exe</ExecutableName>
	<Transport>S80</Transport>
</Signature>

6. Change Vectorworks 2019 to Vectorworks 2020, and Vectorworks2019.exe to Vectorworks2020.exe.

7. Change this file name to Vectorworks2020.xml and copy back to the configuration folder: C:\Program Files\3Dconnexion\3DxWare\3DxWinCore64\Cfg

8. Restart your machine and see if your macro setting is back.

Let me know if this helps or not.

For me my VW 2019 settings worked immediately in VW 2020 also.

The problem is that with the buggy 10.6.2 driver,

my VW 2019 settings got corrupt.

These were all VW App specific button assignments.

I have now numbers only on display.

Unfortunately the tedious reverting procedure to 10.6.0 did not help,

all settings were gone completely.

So I went back to 10.6.2. for now.

So I have at least my broken VW settings back.

While Bricscad or other Apps settings stayed completely unaffected.

Also the 10.6.3 driver on Mac works fine.

And, 10.6.2 will crash when you open Blender.
