symo
Having an issue trying to get VW to render light from light symbols that have had shutters inserted so that my stage wash doesn't light the ceiling, etc. The beam shows correctly in wireframe but not always correctly in fast & custom renders. This happens in both the design layers and viewports. I have made sure that the "soft shadows" check box hasnt been selected. I have done this successfully before. Ive tried different symbols but this hasnt fixed the issue My file is 150MB, so thought I would ask for anything obvious before trying to upload it. Cheers 1 Quote Link to comment
Peter Neufeld
Hello, Try and paste some into a separate file with their Focus Points and maybe something for the light to hit and post the file. Cheers, Peter Quote Link to comment
symo
Ive actually found out thru another thread what the problem is - the light needs to be turned on in the design layer in order for shutters and gobos to render properly in the sheet layer! Quote Link to comment
Peter Neufeld
Well yes the lights need to be turned on. You can override the lights (any lights - that is Renderworks or Lighting Devices) in a viewport via the Visualisation palette (from the Window menu). So you can have duplicated viewports side by side showing different lighting. Cheers, Peter Quote Link to comment
symo
Hi Peter - yes sounds perfectly logical but had thought that the sheet layer overrides would take 100% control of these in the SL. But many thanks for responding - much appreciated. Quote Link to comment
Peter Neufeld
Dear Symo, Not sure what you mean by sheet layer overrides - do you mean class overrides which are also great? Either way the Vis Palette allows great control over the lighting for viewports. Cheers, Peter Quote Link to comment
symo
Sorry - visualisation lighting overrides for sheet layer viewports. So I create my SLVP from the design layer then tweak the lights from the SLVP. Quote Link to comment
Peter Neufeld
Yes but the default lighting in the SLVP is whatever lights are on or off on the design layer - which can then be overridden for later with the Vis palette. Cheers, Peter Quote Link to comment
symo
Got that. Makes perfect sense now. 1 Quote Link to comment
