Override texture in viewport

Allen Brown

Question

I've created a house design viewport that I've placed multiple times on a site plan layer in the same document. I can change class visibility of each viewport to modify the design but not class textures. Also tried creating multiple viewports of the house design in a separate site plan file, same issue. I'd like to vary colors, textures etc by house. Any ideas?

Have you made certain that your textures are all set to “Class Texture” in the OIP

Also as a fail safe, make sure that the textures in your classes are set to Use at Creation. It seems to help although logically I don’t think it should make any difference.

Yes, I've checked all the settings, and again as suggested. In the OIP Viewport settings, I can turn classes off and on for different elements but changing a class texture has no effect.

Here's an example file with a wall on a design layer and two viewports of the wall on a second design layer. You can see any texture change to the wall is reflected in the viewports and that you can override visibility and turn the wall on and off in the viewports but you can't change the texture of the wall in the viewports.
