Minicad 6 to VW 10.5.1

Is there a plug in available to open a minicad 6 file into VW 10.5?

I hear i have to reinstall VW 8 to bridge it. Is it posiible to avoid that ?

Not to my knowledge. You need an intermediate version as you indicate. VW8 should work.

I think the translation always goes back three versions, so you should be able to open a MC6 file in VW9 too.

Just for this reason I keep copies of version 8,9,10,11 loaded on at least one machine in the office. We still have some older files in version 5 that we sometimes need to open.

I just checked my version 9 copy of VW. It shows that it will export to 6, 7, and 8. I would therefore assume that it can read those files as well.

i did finally manage to open the file.

Very annoying procedure.

When I dead-file a project I save it as a PDF. That way I can always view it. Of course if you need to alter the old files or extract something, then you have to go through what you are doing now.

PDF is a printing function. It is available to any program that can print. If you are on OS X, then it is also part of the system. Simply choose Print>Save as PDF.
