Vectorworks 2017 Slow on Mojave

en3o

Question

Hi all,

I'm working for an MSP and one of our clients has purchased a new Mac and I've installed Vectorworks 2017.

At first this appeared fine, however, the next day the user reported issues when trying to open the application. This was fixed by an update to Vectorworks.  After this everything was fine again.

We are now having issues when trying to type text, its very slow and laggy when typing. The Application also appears to lock up on the Mac.

I've seen something online about 2017 not being supported/ compatible with Mojave. Does anyone know/use Vectorworks 2017 on Mojave?

All you describe were initial hickups with VW 2019 when Mojave was released.

A few service packs later it was solved for VW 2019 and VW 2018.

So as usual for the current and last previous release.

VW 2017 and earlier will no more get fixes for Mojave.

As changes in and problems with Mojave were more serious than usual

macOS upgrade problems, I would not recommend to use VW 2017

on Mojave at all. Only up to 10.13.

As a new Mac was needed, an upgrade for VW seems mandatory ?

@en3o Hi, Probally Vectorworks 2017) it's not compatible with Mojave (10.14)

"Vectorworks 2017 & earlier:

If you use a version of Vectorworks that was released prior to Vectorworks 2018, we recommend that you DO NOT upgrade your operating system, because critical bugs were introduced in the release of macOS Mojave that will affect the performance and stability of Vectorworks."
