AnaisR
I am currently setting up a symbol database, and I would like to assign different classes to different symbols, so that when I import a symbol into a document it automatically puts itself within a class. It might be that the target document need already contain the class name, but that is not really a problem as I am working with templates, and can set up class names in the template. I would be grateful for any info on this, I could not find anything on this in the VW helpfile. cheers, anais. Windows NT, VW & Mechanical 10.5 Quote Link to comment
Guest
When creating your symbol, make sure all componets of the symbol are assigned to the class you want to be created when you insert the symbol. You also need to assign the symbol to that class. To assign objects to a specific class, select them. GO to the OIP, Class drop down box and select the desired class name. (The class has to be created first) Quote Link to comment
Guest
Anais, First create the class in the drawing. Then when you create the symbol, click on the Options button and assign the class under the Other Options box. Tom Urie Nemetschek, N.A. Quote Link to comment
AnaisR
Cheers Katie and Tom! Tom's solution works well, and I do not need to create the symbol's classes in the target document, as it is created automatically when the symbol is imported. great! anaisr. Quote Link to comment
