VW 10 files opening with VW 11 x

Just a brief question?

i think i am getting files from a Vectorwork 10 x user ..as i am still waiting for confirmation ..we are using VW 11 x and was wondering if someone is sending us a VW 10 x files saved as VW files , can i open this with my VW 11 x ?

if no..what can this VW 10 user do for me so i can open it on VW 11 ?

Yup.

Most software will support previous versions at least a few years back. Its only opening files from newer versions with older apps that is sometimes problematic.

if you are mac based, append .mcd at the end of the file name in the Finder, and then switch to Vectorworks, and go to file>Open, and if they are VW files they will open.

Double clicking, or dragging the document to the Application icon won't work.

Suggestion.

I have found that the odd older file when opened in a newer version can have the odd thing missing. Although this is very rare, I have found it handy to keep the previous version of VW in my computer just in case.
