Paul O
Can anyone advise me. I am curently upgrading to Vectorworks 11 and from PC back to Mac. I am looking at both the 17" and 15" 1.67GHz powerbooks upgraded to 1Gb Ram. I am presuming these will both handle VW wel (predominantly 2D). My query is in regard to screen real estate. Is the 15" sufficient space to work comfortably? I am a little worried about the portability of the 17" monster....... [ 04-11-2005, 07:55 AM: Message edited by: Paul O ] Quote Link to comment
APE Design Ctr
I could never have a big enough monitor myself. Worst thing you can do is 1 month from now say 'I should have got the bigger monitor'. Quote Link to comment
RGyori
I've been using a 17" G4 PB for over 2 years now and find the larger screen is definitely worth the expense and effort. I use it for all my work, both 2d and 3d. I carry it daily between work and home, though I did purchase two trackballs, one for home and one at the office, so I could avoid using the trackpad when working VW. Bob Quote Link to comment
wv_vectorworker
the price diff is US$400, enough to buy a nice 17" LCD. I would get the 15" PB for the portability and keep a second monitor wherever you do most of your work. nothing like a two monitor set-up. Quote Link to comment
Clas-H
PB 15" for portability and a second display (Formac 2010) connected via DVI at work. The new PB 15" has dual link DVI option and connects to the mighty 30" Cinema Display. I think the 17" is too bulky. My ?2 Clas-H Quote Link to comment
J. Johnson
I used a 15" PB for about a year and a half as a drafting machine, and found it to be adequate for drafting CDs for a single family residence. But now that I'm working on a 23" cinema display, I would probably choose the 17" over the 15". Quote Link to comment
David Bertrand
I have a 15" PB and find it adequate, but would go for the 17" if I were doing just drafting. The 17" is more difficult to carry around, because of its size. Quote Link to comment
