eary157
Hi, how do you cut a shape into a Solid Subtraction? Cutting a Cone into the face of a solid subtraction. See Image. In the image the selected part it meant to be negative space. Quote Link to comment
michaelk
When you run the subtract solids command there is an option to "retain subtracting solids". If this is not checked you need to delete the solid that is being subtracted. In your screen shot it looks like you might just need to delete the cones. 1 Quote Link to comment
eary157
It's Not working because the shape it's going it to a solid subtraction as well Quote Link to comment
michaelk
That shouldn't matter. You can subtract from solid subtractions forever. Can you post a file with the object? Quote Link to comment

I received a warning that I've never seen before saying the file was created in the student version and cannot be opened in the professional version. @JuanP is this new or maybe regionalized? I guess someone from NV will need to solve this thread since most of us won't be able to open the file.... Kevin Quote Link to comment
michaelk
I'm getting the same warning as @Kevin McAllister. I don't remember ever seeing that before. I believe the original poster is in New Zealand. Do they have a different regional educational license? @eary157, if you can make a screen capture movie (You can do it with Quicktime) showing the steps you are taking we can help you right away. This is almost certainly just a missing click someplace. Quote Link to comment

I occasionally (as I am sure other do as well) receive documents from university professionals wielding their student version of VWX to generate drawings of their venue, inventory etc. This new constraint is not going to play well in that scenario. @JuanP: Was an announcement made recently, regarding this shift in policy? Has anyone found this same issue crop up in VW 2018 or earlier student files? Quote Link to comment
eary157
Hope this work better Torch v2018.vwx Quote Link to comment
michaelk
Nope. The 2018 vwx won't open on the professional version either. The .dwf imports as nothing but lines in 3D space. Quote Link to comment
mjm
Anyone know when this change occured? Quote Link to comment
