What mouse do you recommend?

I meant that in Windows you can set the scroll wheel speed only

by setting how many text rows it will jump with each wheel click.

(I think the default is 3 or 4 rows)

Oh right.

This is going to take a lot of getting used to. Every app I go into I feel like I've parked the Tesla in the garage and taken the old Model T with hand starter crank out for a whirl.

It took a while for me until every App found its settings for CADMouse.

But nothing against Space Mouse Enterprise ...

Or my Wacom Cintiq, which needed more than 3 months for a useful 80% setup

with Touch, Pen and Remote.

(There should be Standards in Key Mapping)

I'm talking exclusively about the scroll wheel here 🙃

There's no way to scroll sideways with CadMouse right? Very used to doing that in Finder's column view.

Holding Shift + Scroll is the standard for horizontal scrolling.

Very needed for standard mouse since Apples Preview lost the SPACEBAR drag.

So what I'm finding here (scrolling columns horizontally in the Finder) is a variant of the scroll by rows problem you mentioned. With the Magic Mouse I can infinitely control the speed and increment, including speed scroll and inertia. Whereas with the the CadMouse it just steps me through from one visible area to the next like a teacher yanking me off the headmaster's office for swearing.

The weird thing about all this is that the clicky scroll wheel is touted as an accuracy feature (for CAD), but with the Magic Mouse you have infinite control over speed and increment.

Another little niggle, when I turn the wheel gently notch by notch, some things just don't scroll (like Apple's News app). I have give it a vigorous turn to get things going. And even then it's not reactive; the scrolling action on the wheel hardly ever matches the reaction on screen. And there doesn't seem to be a setting for this kind of thing.

Man I want to love this thing and I need a third button... but I'm having serious doubts that I'm improving things here.

What's everyone's favourite setup for Buttons and Radial Menus with CadMouse in Vectorworks?

Okay, you might think I'm not giving it enough time but I've gone back to my Magic Mouse and found a way (using a plugin) to configure a middle mouse button on it. And it works. Now I can use Twinmotion. And this is all I was really after.

So I would be plonking down £95 for middle mouse button + a woeful downgrade in scrolling/zooming capabilities. And, admittedly, a higher resolution (which I do like).

Too lazy to configure radial menus.

My basic setup for any 2 extra button device for VW,

X for Selection Tool and Fit View.

I have assigned Wheel Click and Radial Menu Button for any

App but immediately forgot what it was.

The second app you're referring to is SteerMouse

It's what I use with my Logitech G502 mouse, but their website says it does not support Apple's Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad.

@Christiaan what kind of plugin? Would you mind sharing what you did

Yes, as Zoomer said, BetterTouchTool. And there's also MagicPrefs.

I've been using MagicPrefs for a few years now while testing on Mac with the Magic Mouse. It was a game changer for me.

Just purchased the new 3dConnexion wireless cadmouse pro, its great, felt at home with it within a couple hours, both in VW & Rhino3d, have now retired my trusty Razer Death Adder Chroma. I also use  3dConnexion SpaceMouse Wireless , works fantastic in Rhino, still can't set it up quite right in VW.

Have to throw in that my CADMouse has problems again.

It starts slowly that LMB clicks need to be pressed longer to works.

Later you need to press harder beyond the click sound and at the

end you will get unwanted double clicks which can be very annoying.

Also the lower Aluminium Body corroded as it was clear painted only.

This was a common problem.

My first CADMouse LMB broke after 3 months and the mouse was replaced.

Now my replacement is already at LMB stage 2 again and the Aluminium

also looks like 20 years of wear.

(It was very seldom in use as I normally use my Cintiq and Pen Input)

They said they changed something about the corosion (anodyzed ?) and

about that LMB, so maybe mine was replaced short before that revision.

Annoying for a $100 Mouse though.

How long do you use your mouse? I I've only had mine about six months. It still looks like new, no scratches, no corrosion. Maybe they really got that under control.

Yes, they said something about "new coating" on their forum.

https://www.3dconnexion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=36379&p=70391&hilit=coating#p70391

I see that my Mouse was replaced at the end of 2016 already.

So again 2+ years.

(But mostly rested in cupboard since my Cintiq in erly 2017

until Ryzen PC in late 2018)

It has still clearcoat, which starts to erode from the sharp edges

where aluminium meets plastic.

Thanks Christian,

so it is out now.

I would miss the wire though.

They mention high durability switches.

Looks like I got one of the last mice with bad switches

as a replacement.
