Dream PC
Hi all, I am building a computer for a customer and I would like to find out if Vectorworks would favour an i7-9700k (8 core, 8 thread) over an i7-8700k (6 core, 12 thread) CPU please? I am not sure if it will utilise all 12 threads or if raw 8 core grunt would be the better way to go. Just on the off-chance someone has tested them both, or if someone that knows how the software works might be able to confirm if it is hyperthread optimised. Thanks in advance. I just want to do the right think by my customer and make the best recommendation. Rick Edited May 14, 2019 by Dream PC had a bit of a brain fail on the core count of a 9700k Quote Link to comment
zoomer
As far as I see, 9700k is 8 cores 8 (only ?) Threads vs 8700k 6/12 And in Cinebench 15, 9700k is faster in single core as well as in multicore benchmark. So I would go with the 9700k. https://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/intel-core-i7-9700k-processor-review,7.html Edited May 13, 2019 by zoomer Quote Link to comment
Dream PC
Hi zoomer Bit of a brain fart / typo by me on the core count there on the i7-9700k, oops. You are totally right, 8 cores & threads. Thanks for the info - seems like a go for 9th gen. Much appreciated. Quote Link to comment
zoomer
Before, I didn't even know that there are i7 CPUs that don't have Hyperthreadding Quote Link to comment
Guest Paulo Ferrari
@zoomer Yeah Zoomer rs it's New in Core i7 models. Hyperthreading usually it's disable in Core i5 Models That's why I have not switched my i7 yet hehe. It's a little bit difference, doesn't justify more investment. And unfortunately, Core i9 it's so expensive to me 😀.https://www.cpu-monkey.com/en/compare_cpu-intel_core_i7_8700-764-vs-intel_core_i7_9700k-888 Quote Link to comment
