Wall Recesses need to stay put

Christiaan

Question

I've made considerable use of Wall Recesses in a (large) project I'm working on but I'm regretting it because they're so temperamental.

These things should stay where you put them but they don't. Editing a wall style, for instance, will send them all off randomly to different positions. And they can difficult to get back into place, unless you use specific steps (e.g. Top Plan view, double click, then exit, then move), but even then some are impossible to move back and must be recreated.

Compare this to symbols, which are less convenient for creating wall recesses, but at least they stay put.

I had the same issue with some wall projections in VW2018. In the end I rebuilt them as symbols because they were just too high maintenance.

I also think (Wall cutting) Symbols are the smarter way.

Also you can work with 1 single Symbol and parametrize by Symbol Scale.

(like 100x100x100 cm Symbol size, typing Scale X 200 (%) will give you a 200 cm Recess)
