milezee
When I search for items in the resource browser I'm getting nothing showing in the results, I'm sure I have things set to search all libraries example, if I search for cabinet handles or pulls nothing is found, yet I know they are there in the libraries ?? Pat Stanford
Try to be less specific in your search. I get a lot of hits for Pull and for Handle and nothing for Cabinet Handle. Cabinet returns a lot. 1 Quote Link to comment
milezee
@Pat Stanford thanks for chipping in Pat, yes if I type just Pull I seem to get the full library as expected, and for Handle a mix of handles and taps, and for Handles I get a few taps ?? I'd of expected the search function to be a bit more intuitive than that, is this normal ? I search a few different items and often get a return of nothing found 🤔 Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
Unfortunately the search is kind of old-school text based rather than the newer content based. So, I believe, that if you put multiple words into the search you will only get items that contain ALL of those words. Usually it is best to start very broad (i.e. Handle) and see how many hits you get. If it is too many, then add something else to try and limit it to closer to what you want. It appears to be slightly smarter than pure text. A search for American Standard returns files with names containing both American Standard and Am Standard. A Search for Toilet returns files without Toilet in the file name, so it is doing at least some metadata searching. 1 Quote Link to comment
milezee
@Pat Stanford uhmmm, doesn't make sense that you put a search in for Cabinet Handles, (and you know there is a folder named Cabinet Handles) and the search comes up with nothing, suppose I'll just have to work with it, thanks for the tips Pat 👍 1 Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
My guess is that it is not looking at folder names and only at file names and meta-data. Quote Link to comment
milezee
@Pat Stanford yeh looks that way, something to get my head round when searching for stuff, room for improvement in this functionality imho 😁 Quote Link to comment
