UNKNOWN TOOL in VW2019

Recommended Posts

It appear on my 3D fixture symbole in a viewport and doesn't appear when print. I think it's new in VW 2019 it's an arrow representing the light direction. Maybe someone knows what is this tool or preference it is, i don't need it for now and want to make it invisible.

Thanks everybody..

You're actually seeing the render light that's embedded in the Lighting Device symbol.  Render lights should never show up in viewports (only the effects of the light), so this might be a bug.  As soon as you render, whether in hidden line, OpenGL, or RW, they should go away.

If lights are in viewports, then the light objects that are embedded will appear as glyphs in the way that you can see. To turn these off you can either go to Vectorworks preferences and pick an option. You shouldn't however see them in sheet layers.

or enable the quick tool button on the right hand side of the mode bar

There is nothing new about these. They have been there for as long as I can remember, however, as @JBenghiat said, they never used to turn up in viewports on sheet layers. This may be a bug.

Even embedded lights shouldn't display in VPs, regardless of the light object display preference.  This behavior looks unique to lighting devices and looks like it might be a 2019 bug.

@JBenghiat Lighting instruments have shown these glyphs intermittently when in a wireframe 3d view in design layer viewports for as long as I can remember. It doesn't seem to follow a pattern. I've never seen them on sheet layers though.
