Student edition file file won't open

Hello, 

I teach at a university and for some reason I can't open a file that my student created in a licensed student edition of VWX, at the same university, same country.

When I try to open it, I get a "this file was saved in the stduent edition of Vectorworks. Files saved in the student edition cannot be opened in the professional version" error. 

This only happens with this one student, and it happens regardless of the file.

 

Any suggestions for things to try?

It depends on the type of serial number of the student, how VW saves files and on the type of your serial number if VW is allowed to open such a "student" file.
