GlueDT92
Is it possible to change the default circuit number so that when I insert a lighting device it already has a specific value associated with it? Thanks, Simon Quote Link to comment
0 markdd
Yes. Create a record - call it say "Extra Lighting Info Record" Create a field called Circuit Number and give it a default value Attach it to the particular symbol in the resource manager (right-click > attach record) Go to Spotlight preferences Click "Additional default records" Tick "Extra Lighting Info Record" Insert the symbol as a lighting device as usual You will find the circuit number pre-filled. I hope that helps Quote Link to comment
0 GlueDT92
Turns out it's incredibly simple. I was able to add a new field to the Lighting Info Record called "Circuit Name" and gave it a default value (in my case "Circuit Info"). That default value then automatically applies to all lighting devices and when I insert a new device "Circuit Info" is pre-populated as the circuit name. Simon Quote Link to comment
0 markdd
I would cation against changing the light info record. If you do, then every time you import a symbol from a Vectorworks library file then you will get a record conflict message. if it’s just a one-off thing then I guess it’s fine, but in terms of best practice it’s probably better to add the extra record.
