Copy/Paste with insertion point

erminio

Question

Hi guys,

there are only few AutoCAD features that I'd like Vectorworks should have, one of them being "Copy with Insertion Point"

When you copy some objects with Cmd/Ctrl-Shift +C, you activate the possibility to copy and paste from a desired point, instead of pasting from the center of them

I think it is the opposite way in VW.

You have to hold SHIFT to force it to paste in place.

Without SHIFT it will place it to the last point you clicked before.

I think that is nearly what you want beside you have no control

where your origin to place from is.The midpoint of the boundary box ?

So that‘s why I ask myself why that is the default behaviour with the

simpler short cut.

Thank you Zoomer (sorry for late answer - problem with mail)

I knew that

What I'd like is a handle FROM which copy and paste, as you write "you have no control where your origin to place from is"

It should work as Move by Point tool

Believe me, when you have it, you use it

Yes but there might be also a maojority of users that are to tally fine with

with how it works. Like Landscape architects that past trees in a freehand

manner or other situations where precision isn't important.

Maybe they would loudly protest any extra click or even because a need

to adapt to any change.

Ah, ok.

I always thought about my preferred solution only.

Switch Shortcuts to easier CMD+V = past in place.

and any arbitrary behavior to CMD+ALT+V

And there is also SHIFT or CTRL keys available for

more or less useful insertion behaviors.
