michael john williams
Any suggestions where to look and download a 3D wheelchair? I have checked vw's libraries and disappointing to find vw has not provided a 3D of a wheelchair. Or a person in a wheelchair. Or a person with a walking stick. Pretty essential as to satisfy regulations in the UK all buildings have to be designed for disabled use. 1 Quote Link to comment

milezee
@michael john williams try on GrabCad, lots of free useful 3d models on there, https://grabcad.com/library/tag/wheelchair Quote Link to comment
michael john williams
Thanks for your help. Unfortunately not much luck so far. Importing from 3D warehouse sketch ups 2018 files are either damaged or corrupted. 2017 versions import but crashed vectorworks 2019 several times. Eventually have imported by not crashing but can only be seen in plan view in design layer but can be seen 3D in viewport. However model is not solid and is made of mesh lines only. Tried importing under different settings without much success. Trying Grab Cad but can not find a sketchup or vectorworks format. I will keep trying. Disappointed that vectorworks do not have a simple 3D or even 2D of a wheelchair in architectural objects - a discrimination! Quote Link to comment
milezee
@michael john williams you won't find much VW formats on there, you can download obj, step, iges etc and import into VW 👍 Quote Link to comment

michael john williams
Thanks Mike but I was looking for free downloads. In fact these downloads are quite expensive and certainly my disabled client would not wish to pay extra especially when able bodied clients don't have to. Quote Link to comment

Vectorworks, Inc Employee JustinVH Posted January 15, 2019 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 15, 2019 Thanks you for the input. We are actually in the process of working on a 3D wheelchair for the content libraries. Once it is completed it will be released in a VSS release. 2 Quote Link to comment
michael john williams
Justin, that would be great. I suggest you have a seated figure that could be added showing a person siting on the wheelchair. Quote Link to comment
MRD Mark Ridgewell
...an indication of turning circle may be useful for space planning purposes too! 1 Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee JustinVH Posted March 21, 2019 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted March 21, 2019 The new Medical Equipment and Accessories file that was released on VSS last week contains a wheelchair. Just giving everyone a heads up about it. 2 Quote Link to comment
Cris with no H
Wish I'd seen this topic in January. I have a whole library of wheelchair and ADA clearance symbols, including 3D wheelchair, w. or w/o occupant. I look foward to poking through the new library Justin. Quote Link to comment

Vectorworks, Inc Employee JustinVH Posted May 31, 2019 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted May 31, 2019 There is a new wheelchair in the May 2019 VSS release under Entourage>Vehicles>_Mobility Vehicles that also has the ADA turning radius class with a circle. There are also some mobility scooters in there as well. Quote Link to comment

I downloaded it and will no doubt find it quite useful; however, note that the 5'-0" turning circle diameter measured at 4'-8 1/4" (??). I edited the 2D portion of the symbol and changed it to 60". 😉 Quote Link to comment

barkest
Here is a wheelchair from Su. I took a very lightweight one. Imports and works fine in VW but I will add the skp file as I have an edu version of VW. When importing make sure to tick Create Renderworks Textures for all Materials then you can swap out the material as required. Also note it will create a Layer0 class as the class is created from the associated layer name in Su. Wheelchair.skp Edited June 9, 2019 by barkest Quote Link to comment
