Split Mode when Mirror Modeling is enabled

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong of it this is a bug.

 

When I have Mirror Modeling enabled for my Subdivision object, I can't seem to split a triangular face without it going crazy. If I disable Mirror Modeling it seems to work fine, but I don't want to disable Mirror Modeling.
