Vectorworks, Inc Employee Bruce Ferguson Posted February 3, 2005 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 3, 2005 Do you know if your friend is trying to use simplified Chinese characters or traditional Chinese characters? VW supports the traditional characters but not the simplified. Quote Link to comment
soldata
Bruce, Thanks for reply. He is using traditional chinese for the case. Funny enough after several experience, it is ok now if chinese character typed and click selection tool immediately (still within the text box). However, if not clicking the selection tool and just click anywhere else, the characters show like "????@!". Also the display of the chinese font in the font menu still not support? Again, Thanks! Vectorworks, Inc Employee Bruce Ferguson Posted February 4, 2005 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 4, 2005 I think you need a Chinese version of VectorWorks to get Chinese characters in the font menu. Quote Link to comment
wv_vectorworker
if you are on a Mac with OSX you could make the text in Textedit or another app and import it as an image. Tedious perhaps depending on how much text you need . . . but can be done. Quote Link to comment
soldata
Yes, copy and paste from other apps will do the trick. though it is not a natual way, but it works! Well, waitng for better way and also the correct display of chinese font in the font menu. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
wv_vectorworker
Yes wow I just tried it with Japanese cut and paste from textedit, it pastes fine into a text block. MACOSX 10.3.7 in VW 10.5 Quote Link to comment
konkreet
I have a problem with chinese fonts... When importing an AutoCAD DWG file (with chinese text) into Vectorworks 11... None of them appear!! or are scrambled... (this depends on the DWG format version) Furthermore, when I conversely export a VW11 file (with chinese text) to DWG and import this to AutoCAD,... they're scrambled!!! I need to exchange files between AutoCAD users and myself with VW11 (Mac OS)... with Simplified Chinese text information... Any ideas??? thanks Quote Link to comment
