Worksheet formula for heights relative to a working plane

Recommended Posts

Is there a way I can extract the Z value of an object relative to a specified working plane to a worksheet?

Many older theatre venues have raked (sloping) stages. I can easily show Trim heights of lighting positions from the nominal layer plane, but in practice this measurement really needs to be from the sloping surface directly under the position so that it can be measured from the ground. What I normally do is create a working plane from the sloping stage surface, make that the active working plane and then use the second (pink) working plane button in the OIP to give me an accurate reading.

What I would like to do is extract this information to a worksheet or better still, a data tag!

Many thanks
