Steve Clarkson
Hi Again, So I had this problem a while back, dropped it, and have been working around it by just opening the speaker's .vrx file and copying over to the working project. I've decided to tackle this again, and ... 1. have got the speaker designed, 2. what I believe is a valid speaker record attached, 3. placed the .vrx in the Program Files/Vectorworks 2018/Librairies/Defaults/Audio Tools/Speakers folder. 4. in a new project, created a generic speaker 5. in the OIP, selected Import 6. selected my speaker project file from the dropdown 7. in Type, typed in the speaker name I'd given it. 8. received error message that record data was invalid. 9. retrying results in all the same choices becoming available and the same results... 10. unable to delete the erroneous import, to redo. Is there a breakdown between what I assigned as Type in the record data, and the Type that gets entered when importing? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Edit - in advance of being asked for the file, I've attached it. Danley SBH-20 v2018.vwx Edited December 12, 2018 by Steve Clarkson Quote Link to comment
C. Andrew Dunning
Steve - I checked your file. You have data attached to the one Symbol instance you placed, but, the data needs to be attached to the Symbol definition, instead. Edit the Symbol and, without anything selected, attach the Record and fill in the data. Resave the file and you should be good-to-go. Quote Link to comment

Steve Clarkson
Spoke too soon, it imported the record fine, but ignored my symbol...? Quote Link to comment
C. Andrew Dunning
Did the DATA attached to the Symbol get sucked in? The way the tool currently works, the Symbol is merely a holding-place for the data and the actual geometry doesn't get used. Quote Link to comment
Steve Clarkson
Ah, ok. Is there a way to have it in the library and does use the symbol? Quote Link to comment
Steve Clarkson
It seems I have a choice between: A speaker tool item that will display accurate dispersion, but is not visually accurate. OR A speaker symbol that's visually accurate and contains the accurate dispersion info, but can't display it. Sad face. 1 Quote Link to comment
