khumenny
The cabinet tool is great but it would be even greater if the drawer sizes could be specified, 3 equal size drawers is fairly common and there doesn't seem to be a way to change the default of ascending sizes from top to bottom. Unless I'm missing something....? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Stephan Moenninghoff Posted December 2, 2018 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 2, 2018 (edited) Is this the "Custom Cabinet" you are referring to? You can click inside a segment and adjust its size as shown in the screen shot. There are more advanced options in the full-blown version of interiorcad. Some videos here. khumenny
No, I was referring to the kitchen cabinets with doors & drawers. Thanks though. Quote Link to comment
rgcn
Kelvin, Stephan may have been pointing out that you can build this cabinet in the custom cabinet tool. Cheers, Rob Quote Link to comment
khumenny
Thanks Rob! I guess I need to look more closely at the custom cabinet tool. Quote Link to comment
Habitat43
Hello guys, I know this is an old tread but I thought it was better to ask here than make a new one. Is there any way to edit the door/drawer type using the custom cabinet option?? thanks!! Quote Link to comment

Change the height of the drawers and/or door. If I choose 2 or 3 drawers VW makes them the same size, I would like the top to be smaller than the one in the bottom, like in a regular kitchen. 2. would like to be able to have the top drawer with one style and the bottom drawers with another one. I was able to change the height of door using the custom cabinet option but it doesn’t allow me to change the door style. The custom cabinet is a third party plugin right? Quote Link to comment

That's possible with the full version of interiorcad and yes, it's an extra plugin. There is an entry-level version, interior xs, which has full capabilities but does not do fittings, parts lists and costing. The 2021 version of interiorcad/interior xs will also feature framed fronts, face frames, openable fronts, awning doors, notched toe kicks and a slew of other features made for users outside of Germany/Austria/Switzerland. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
Ross Harris
Can vouch for InteriorCAD xs - phenomenal product. 2 Quote Link to comment
Kevin K
uh.....perhaps not phenomenal, but much better than the standard VW cabinet tools.... I use it almost daily for cabinet creations for kitchens, and more. There is still a bit of work to do pertaining to drawers and doors relating to being able to create a custom profile for the drawer and door frames. It can be done, but currently it invokes a few extra steps. Hopefully that makes sense... 1 Quote Link to comment

Kevin K
Stephan, do you know if InteriorCad XS V 2021 will work with VW 2020? Or will it only work with VW 2021?? I didn't upgrade to 2021 this year for several reasons....I am sort of boycotting. Thanks 1 Quote Link to comment

Thanks Hi Kevin, you will need Vectorworks 2021 for interior xs 2021 to run. 2021 actually makes a few things a lot snappier, especially redraw and OpenGL so don't hold back! 1 Quote Link to comment
Kevin K
Ok, thanks for confirming that. I guess for the time being I will just stick with my '3d greek salads' and using the frame tool in IC XS to make any custom fronts. :-( 1 Quote Link to comment

Kevin K
Uh, yeah.....I can guess :-) That is pretty cool. Will IC XS 2021 also be able to pay the rent on my little beach house here in Tahiti? :-) If so, I will be upgrading today!!! 2 Quote Link to comment
Florian Stroh
in my opinion the interiorcad versions are great. We use this version for more about 9 years now and since 2015 with WOP for creating CNC Programms out of the cabinets. the "new" cabinet creator is way more flexible and makes it pretty easy to create a workflow with it. 1 Quote Link to comment
Habitat43
Does anyone know how to change the standard board for a cabinet? I'm using interiorcad full version, demo, but it seems that the standard thickness for every piece is 3/4", I need to change some pieces to 1.5", I see that they exist in the masted data -> Edit boards, but how do I assign them to the cabinet? thanks!!! 1 Quote Link to comment
Habitat43
Sorry guys another question. Please take a look to the attachment, the cabinet in the left is interiorcad, the one in the right is VW standard cabinet. I need to do the door style I have in the right one, need that one in the interiorcad one, how can I just change the door style? Quote Link to comment
Habitat43
@Stephan Moenninghoff Sven Im working in 2020, could you help me? thanks, Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Stephan Moenninghoff Posted December 1, 2020 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 1, 2020 (edited) @Habitat43 so you have two questions: 1.) How to change the thickness of a material? You seem to have found the master data. Any material you have defined in the master data can be used anywhere in the cabinet and also in a standalone part. Assign the material to the parts (last page in the cabinet object's dialog) and you should be all set. 2.) You want framed fronts. This will be possible in the upcoming version of interiorcad (2021) which we will release very shortly. You will also be able to use profiles for stiles and rails and for the panel. Habitat43
@Stephan Moenninghoff Thanks! but I'm not there yet. I see how to change the material. And in the master data I see several width of pieces, Im in the last page of the setting dialog box, I see that I can change the material but where do I change the piece of wood from one thickness to another one? thanks man, Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Annabel Carr Posted December 1, 2020 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 1, 2020 Hi @Stephan Moenninghoff – do you guys have an expected release date for interiorcad/xs 2021 ? Thanks! Quote Link to comment

I see the problem. The label for the material is actually a link that can be clicked on. Enabled links will be shown in blue. You have selected a part that does not (yet) exist in your cabinet model. Click on side/stile and the labels should turn blue and become clickable. Edited December 2, 2020 by Stephan Moenninghoff Quote Link to comment
