Stair Tool

Just upgraded from 2014  to 2019 so I probably missed some incremental steps in the custom stair tool.  A few improvements need to be made:

• Stringers, would like the ability to set the stringers at an OC spacing or at least more than three stringers
• Seems like we lost the ability to create stairs between layers, only between stories.  I played with stories a bit today, and it is just not useful for the type of work I do which is custom homes in the mountains of central California.

I think the "Custom Stair Tool" is now a legacy tool, (i.e. no further development). There has been a lot of discussion on the forum about improving the "Stair Tool" however and there were some improvements in 2019 as I understand things.

Yes, there have been some improvements, but I'll realy love make the stairs like this, it looks very intuitive.

Here is a link to 3rd party stair parts using Vectorworks to create.

 

Being a residential home designer/estimator, these parts are just what the doctor ordered.

 

We should already have these.

 

Current limitations of what is given us for options is conceptual at best.

Should have Custom Tab for adding or selecting railing profiles.

FYI,

 

The Custom Stair tool is still with us in VW 2019.

 

Left click on Down Triangle at bottom of pallette's

Hover and it will say Utility Menu

At the bottom > Customize

Go to + All Tools

Simple Stairs

Curved Stairs

Custom Stairs

 

Alternate go to Tools Menu > Workspaces > Edit Current Workspace

or you may make a copy,  then alter as you wish.

This way you will always have original workspace.
