digitalcarbon
it seems that having the ability to keep the file clean is paramount...no matter what you do. construction sites that are clean have less problems etc...its universal https://www.amazon.com/Quality-Maintenance-Defects-Equipment-Management/dp/0915299046 so the decision to revamp the Resource browser a few years ago was a major step in keeping things clean.. So I would like to make the following comment on VW focus: 1. Speed & Stability 2. keep everything clean...clean programing...clean UI...clean ways of working with others, clean, clean. (this would also benefit to #1) 3. make it fun (gaming) 4. then new features every few days i stop and take 30-60min and review the cleanliness of the Resource browser folder structure and the names i give everything... digitalcarbon
clean is also the ability to cut an paste a ref symbol from one file to another w/o the symbol losing its ref to the master library.. also..all symbols should default as referenced when you bring them in to a file and only break ref when you choose to do so... digitalcarbon
cleaning up a file starts with the proper naming of items & folders... again if this were cloud based i could have someone invited in to be my cleaner...a few hrs a week per project i got that below image from a solid works project...naming is all messed up...its not indexable Edited November 15, 2018 by digitalcarbon Quote Link to comment
line-weight
I agree with all the above. Keeping class naming 'clean' within VW is a challenge, partly because certain objects create their own special classes which I'm never 100% sure about they are for. My solution is to preface all 'my' class names with a * prefix to keep them at the top of the list. Then all the junk DNA ones that I daren't delete are left at the bottom, and I try and pretend they aren't there. Quote Link to comment
digitalcarbon
keeping things clean....we need to be able to package things up for vendors & fabricators...directly from the Resource browser Edited November 19, 2018 by digitalcarbon Quote Link to comment

digitalcarbon
Taking the time to make clean quality parts is paying dividends... I cannot wait around for companies to provide 3d content so I keep pecking away at it. The reality is, if companies DID provide 3d content it would likely be a direct export from a MCAD system with a zillion polygons. By making my own I can "Clean" it up. There is a point where in the beginning its tough going but then you hit a critical mass and things start to snap together. what do you see wrong with the above picture?
