font changes when I open file from other comp

Recommended Posts

The other workstation most likely doesn't have the same fonts installed, so VW has to "pick" another font.

Go to File-Preferences-VectorWorks Preferences. Click on Display tab, click on Edit Font Mappings button. Here you can see the original fonts used in the drawing and what substitute fonts they'be been mapped to. If you install the same fonts on both computers, you'll need to go here to "remap" the fonts back to the original.

Good luck,

Thanks Travis, but all fonts are mapped to Arial, and I'm still getting other fonts.

An example: I've selected and modified all text to Arial, and then I modified a Benchmark Elevation (pio?)by adjusting a value through the object info box, and it changed the value but

ALSO AWITCHED THE FONT to a diffrent one (can't tell which one it is, but definately not Arial!)

Any other tips out there?

If the document was created on another workstation, the defaults are probably still set to the previous (now non-accessible) font(s). . .so VW is still "guessing".

With the 2D pointer arrow active and NOthing selected, use the menus to set a default font/size/style. Now select the Alpha tool (or dimension, etc.) and verify that the font you just set as document default has "stuck" with the tools that actually use fonts. The font you've selected should have a small checkmark next to it in the pull-down menu.

Hope that helps,

Mapped fonts to be convereted to Arial Narrow, but still having fonts show up differently when I open file from different workstation. Original workstation has font set to default to Arial Narrow, but still shows up different on second workstation and on plots!!!

Need some help please...
