Jeff Prince
I’m interested in learning how people are managing specifications, and especially how you might be tying them to your model. Is anyone embedding specification in the model somehow? Edited November 2, 2018 by jeff prince Quote Link to comment
Samuel Derenboim
Hi Jeff, I was thinking about that too. Considering now that the new id tool can display a local callout, while at the same time the item can have a detailed specification on a separate record of the same object. Or, you can add them in a worksheet when calling out all items you wanted to specify out of all your records. But, i feel that option might be a bit too tedious. Quote Link to comment
Jeff Prince
Well this has been sitting around for awhile. How are folks treating their specs in Vectorworks as BIM continues its march forward? Quote Link to comment
_James
Vectorworks' link with NBS - the main specification provider in the UK is quite interesting. We're not actually using it yet but plan to in the future. NBS have a cloud platform that can be opened in VW - 1 Quote Link to comment

_James
No problem, there is also a webinar on VW University about it now - https://university.vectorworks.net/mod/page/view.php?id=748 1 Quote Link to comment
Jeff Prince
@_James I just watched that seminar. It really highlights the importance of using object styles and symbols. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee LDraminski Posted September 7, 2023 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 7, 2023 For those in the US, are you using any specifications software or writing program? If so, please let us know what solution you use. Thank you! Quote Link to comment
E|FA
I've been using text in MS Word with copy & paste into VW as text blocks. I haven't really used the General Notes tool very much , so don't know if that would offer any advantage, and am interested in any other options that may be developed down the road.
