How to add a HDRI background outside a window?

anniemitch

Question

Hi, newbie here,

I am rendering a room full of glass and mirrors; from the angle in the attached image, the large window is behind me, to the right on the back wall -  but I would like to be able to see the sunset reflections in the mirrors that I am facing. I put a 'wall' outside my window and tried to apply the HDRI background as a texture - but this doesn't work. I cant find any resources detailing how to do this (or ones that discuss the subject matter, I don't understand!) How do I go about doing this?

Thanks

A Renderworks Texture and Renderworks Background are two separate things, so you won't be able to add an HDRI background as a texture to an object. If you want to apply the image to a specific wall you'll have to have an image file such as a jpeg and png that you add to the Color shader of a new RW Texture.
