Michael Gilbert
We are currently using VW 8.5.1 in the office although we purchased Ver. 10 but have yet to migrate to OSX so have just been sitting on these. However client has requested work with final output in Autodesk ADT 2005 dwg format. Question a) is this possible, b) if so what is the best way to do this. Appreciate feedback. Kaare Baekgaard
Unless I am mistaken, VW 10 does not export to 2005 dwg, but version 11 does (With VW 10 you can export to 2002 dwg). Both 10 and 11 will run with OS 9.2, however. The best way to export is to apply classes consistently to all objects, so that you can use this criteria to separate objects in the output export. (Classes will then show up as layers in the recieving end). VW 8.5.1 was very stable, but so is 10.5.1 and 11.0.1, and you get so much more, so why sit on it? Quote Link to comment
G_Hannigan
Architectural Desktop will open a file exported from VW 11 with some limitations. VW objects (walls, doors, symbols) that have both 2d and 3d components will appear in ADT as 2d objects if the export is done from the plan view. They will appear as 3d if the export is done from an isometric view, but will not be oriented properly relative to ADT's World Plane. Re-orienting is a chore. Must do some tests. G_Hannigan
Easier than I thought. Create a new UCS, set current. Set Orthographic UCS's to use newly created UCS as reference. VW walls, etc. are converted to 3d faces. George Quote Link to comment
