2D Components for Lighting Fixtures

Hi! Has anyone had luck rendering a front view of lighting fixtures and using the new 2D component views? I can get 2D components to appear on normal symbols, but fixture symbols with the Light Info Record attached render as hidden line.

Sadly the new components feature of symbols does not work yet with plug-ins like the lighting device tool.

 

When a symbol is converted to a lighting device, the lighting device tool parses the symbol geometry and then manipulates the individual parts within it to move the 3D components around. I don't think the Lighting device tool is going to be able to deal with the new component views just yet. Maybe next release? I can definitely see a really good use for that functionality though.

In a similar vein, Josh Benghiat @benghiat has developed a rather excellent tool called Savvy Section that will create sectional views of Stock instruments like Source 4's and also generate hidden line views of other instruments based on the 3D geometry of the instrument you are using
