halfcoupler
I have some files that were created in VW 16 or older, updated anually until VW 18 and now I can't update the viewports in 2019. VW randomly crashes when pushing the update button. Anyone has the same problem ? Quote Link to comment
David S
resetting the user preferences folder fixed it for me you basically find 2019 in your c drive call it something different (2019old) and then restart VW and a new 2019 folder will appear. Also all the usual driver updates, checking your graphics card is being used (not the internal one) etc hth Quote Link to comment
halfcoupler
thanks for the help,- but neither of this works, grafic driver is up to date, creating an new user folder brings no result. There are still random crashes when updating viewports of files migrated from previous versions. Very bad... 🙁 Quote Link to comment
David S
I am also attaching this if it helps from @jimwilson ? good luck! Quote Link to comment
David S
@halfcoupleMight be worth posting some screen grabs? Does it start off black, gets through the rendering process and then turned black again? Found another thread on here relating to this yesterday. After I did the above the problem fixed itself for me. but you are not the only one having problems Quote Link to comment
halfcoupler
I'm shure it has nothing to do with the grafic card or its settings. Of course I use the dedicated card. It seems that there are some incompatible parts in the old viewports (mainly section viewports) . The problem disappears when creating a new 2019 file , importing all design layers and creating new sheet layers and viewports again from scratch. But thats a lot of work.... I'ts bad that sheet layers can't be imported similar to design layers. How about having this as new feature for VW 2020 ? Quote Link to comment
RDS Casa
Hello, Its not crashing for me (well it is, but not when I update viewports). However, all my sectional viewports now have an alarming red hatch line around them. Worked fine in 2018. Geometry seems to be there are and correct after update (the red cross has gone) but whats the red line about ? Thanks Quote Link to comment
halfcoupler
Usually the red hatch line (called "out-ot-date-border") only indicates that the viewport is out of date. Reason for this is: - one ore more of the corresponding design layers or classes or the viewport settings have been changed. - The document preference "Save site model cache" is disabled and Vectorworks was quit. The "out-of-date-border" can be enabled/disabled in the documents preferences too. 1 Quote Link to comment
RDS Casa
Thanks @halfcouple Strange... following your message I thought yes, must be the site model that needs updating.... but when I loaded it up this evening, all the red borders have gone after the first update anyway ? (I've not updated the site model - maybe it auto updates on file open?) . Either way. the problem appears to have sorted itself out. Thanks again Edited October 20, 2018 by RDS Casa Quote Link to comment
