There are similar areas to this in VWX.  (accidentally hitting Shift, Command E and rendering the whole drawing whilst just trying to rotate something) where a quick escape would be useful

 

I think the only escape is to go multicore. Whenever VW uses a single core, there's no way to break out a process. The example you describe is similar since the geometry portion of the rendering process is still single core.

There's a problem with bleed through snaps too.... I wonder if they're related. The paint bucket should be way more accurate in annotations than it currently is.
