Steven Kenzer
Hi, All. I’m trying to apply a different color to the recessed pattern area on these drawer fronts but not really sure how to go about this. Is there a simple way to achieve this? Any help from the forum would be great. Thanks in advance. Quote Link to comment
markdd
Probably the best way is to make the drawer objects the colour you want and then use the Extract Tool in the 3D tools Palette to to extract the drawer front as a Nurbs surface and then change the colour to whatever you need. You will need to nudge the Nurbs Surface away from the drawer object a fraction to avoid interference or "Z fighting", but that should give you what you need. Mark 2 Quote Link to comment

Andy Broomell
Another option is to go to Edit<Convert<Convert to NURBS, which will convert each individual surface to a NURBS object that can be individually textured. This will avoid the Z fighting issue, however you will lose editability of your originally 3D object. Quote Link to comment
Steven Kenzer
Thanks, Andy. Mark's technique worked well for this but, for the next phase, I need to add different colors (like attached pattern) to each drawer front. I think converting to Nurbs will be helpful for that. Again, much appreciated. This forum has helped me so much over the years. I feel fortunate to have access to the wealth of knowledge offered here. 1 Quote Link to comment
