slow drawing

Recommended Posts

Hi, i noticed that a spesific area in my drawing has become very slow in responses. (for example - when i try to pick things there it takes about two sec to appear as selected). the only thing i can think of that is different in that specific arae of the drwaing is that i changed objects creations classes into a different classes. does anyone know this problem? can that be the reason? any other ideas? and what can i do to fix it up? thanks a lot.

i already tried to purge - no lack.

i try to avoid copy and paste to another drawing.

I too have posted about VW11.0 being slow on WinXP.

Slow redraw, slow on deleting items etc. and the only answer from NNA was check my video card. I have all new cards, latest drivers etc and problem still exists. Only happens with VW11.0 and no other programs so how can it be a hardware problem.

ayelet, you should upgrade to v 10.5.1. It's free from the VW website.

If that doesn't solve your problem, you might want to check a couple of things: what is the speed of your processor and amount of RAM? Do you have multiple layers visible with Layer options set to "Show/Snap" or "Show/Snap/Modify"? Does your problem go away if you turn off all snaps? Does the problem decrease if you set layer options to "Active Only"? Have you taken any 3D sections of your model? In my experience these things can affect performance to the degree you report. Multiple layer links also seem to slow things down. I am not aware of any problem related to creation classes for PIOs, but I wouldn't necessarily rule it out.

For those who are frustrated with VW: in an AutoCAD drawing with multiple xref's and layouts (the equivalent to multiple layer links / workgroup refs in VW), it can literally take 30 seconds to switch layouts on a fast computer.
