Lining up textures precisely

What is the best process for lining up graphics on objects? I have a 2m wide, 1m tall object (depth isn't important, but the object is an extrude), that I want to apply a texture to that is of equal size (created in Illustrator, so can be resized as necessary). I cannot seem to work out an easy way of having the texture centered on the object. It could be how I'm applying it, or it could be how I'm exporting it. Any tips?

(Also, even if it is a quarter size and scaled up 4x it doesn't seem to line up)

In reply to my own question - I've worked it out. I didn't realise I was mapping the texture in perimeter mode. Plane mode and the attribute mapping tool makes this a lot easier. In reply to my own question - I've worked it out. I didn't realise I was mapping the texture in perimeter mode.
