Title Block Border - True Page Numbering vs. Conventional Sheet Numbering

Often drawing sets need true page numbers and conventional (4.02) sheet numbers. It would be great to have a drawing co-ordination system that allows both for. I think the way to achieve it would be for drawing co-ordination and the Title Block Border to be able to access the "stacking order" field for each sheet layer. That would return a true page number within a set every time.

Basing a ‘true page number’ on the Sheet ‘Stacking Order’ field would not allow one Sheet to reside in multiple Sets.

 

For example: Sheet A2.02 might be [Sheet #3 of 8 total] in the Design Review Set, while it might be [Sheet #12 of 75 total] in the Construction Document Set.

 

It seems like this would need to implemented as part of the Publish command, that way you could have a single Sheet reside in multiple Sets. There could be a check box in the Publish dialogue to display / update two fields in the Title Block. One field for the page number of the Set, one field for the total number of sheets in the Set.

True. It would be useful to allow for multiple sets. I was trying to imagine how it would easily link into the current (new) drawing co-ordination aspect of the recently introduced Title Block Border. Ultimately it all needs to be re-imagined at the same time instead of building on existing parts. Publish leaves a lot to be desired in its current implementation and the VW Cloud creates PDFs from all the sheets in a file so no solution is going to address all of this without a co-ordinated redesign.
